Facts about South Russian Shepherd

Considered one of the most dangerous breeds in the world.

Description

The South Russian Shepherd dogs are shaggy warriors that have proven themselves as professional guardians of their owners' peace of mind and well-being. Having a serious nature and an innate suspicion of trespassers, these sheepdogs never get into conflicts without a reason. The only thing you have to take into account when having a South Russian Shepherd dog at home is the breed's tendency to be proactive and to think for the owner in critical situations. The breed was created to look like a sheep so that wolves couldn’t tell the difference between a dog and a flock from afar. The animal was never sheared so that a shield of matted hair protected it from the teeth of predators. The modern appearance of the breed differs from the original version. At the beginning of the last century, the furry giants almost disappeared but was restored later. These dogs don’t like to jump and swim but they do like to run and dig holes. The breed isn’t too numerous, 70% of all the dogs live in Ukraine.
