Description
The Pug is one of those breeds that, thanks to its distinctive appearance, is easily recognized even by those who do not consider themselves experts in dog breeding. Of course, its modest size and special good-naturedness don’t allow one to rely on this pet as a reliable guardian but the Pugs are perfect as loyal friends for the whole family and a source of positive emotions. French empress Josephine used her pug named Fortuna to pass notes to her future husband, Napoleon, when she was in the Carmes prison. She hid them under the dog’s collar.
There are different names for pugs in different countries: in China – Lo-sze, in Finland – Mopsi, in Spain – Doguillo, in Holland – Mopshond, which means “to grumble” in Dutch.
