The most ancient breed in the Pyrenees. There is no exact information about the origin. The mentions of these dogs in writing date back to the times of the Roman Empire. Bred in the mountains of Portugal, they were almost unknown outside the country.
Description
The Estrela Mountain Dogs were previously used to transport carts of goods and now are mostly used as sheepdogs.
