Facts about Estonian Hound

The breed was created relatively recently: in the 1920s. And roe deer were to blame. Hunting them was forbidden in order to preserve the population of the animals and big dogs were left out. So there was a need in a dog no more than 45 cm in height in order to chase hares and foxes.

Description

The Estonian Hounds are zealous, venturesome, tireless - any hunter's dream! These dogs aren't inferior to Russian Greyhounds and other hounds, sometimes surpassing them because it's easier to overcome obstacles due to their small stature. But these beautiful, energetic, mischievous, and always positively spirited animals are popular not only in the narrow circle of hunting fans. These dogs often become just a family member, a pet, pleasing their owners with their excellent qualities. Gentle, loyal, friendly and always ready to go on a long journey, the Estonian Hounds are excellent friends and companions for people who are into sports and enjoy an active lifestyle.
