Facts about Cirneco dell’Etna
This is an ancient breed, the origin of which even archaeologists cannot trace, and the approximate time of its appearance is 500 BC. Studies carried out by geneticists confirm this.
Description
Sicily (the area of Mount Etna) is considered the breed’s original homeland, because of this the The Cirneco dell'Etna is often called the Sicilian Dog or the Sicilian Greyhound.
The first written mention of the breed dates back to 1653, when the naturalist André Cirino described a Cirneco dell'Etna in his work.
Their paw pads allow the dogs to walk on heated surfaces without harm.
